@mschacha62 I think when I did this example, I only used about 10-15 chains. You can count the first two chains as a stitch. There is flexibility with crochet so you don’t have to count the first two chains as a stitch and they will blend in with the first stitch. The chain stitches tend to look sloppy at times, so you may want to work modified first stitches.
Teresa, can you tell me how many chains you started with. Also you said the two chains count as a stitch so do we count this as well. (as one or two). thanks in advance for all you help.
You’re the best! I could only single crochet because that’s all my great grandmother taught me and written directions for any other stitch were too hard to understand. Thanks for such a great visual aid!
i would just like to say thank you soooooo muchhh as i have just learn to crochet by watching your single crochert video,double,triple and half crochet i am sooo happy thanks again your videos are very clear and slow so that you can catch how to do it.
will keep watching your videos and learn more on crochet from you
@YiaNyan9 I am using a little Sony Handycam that has been discontinued now. It is a high resolution camera with HD. You do not have to spend a lot for a good camera. I have had it for two years now and love it.
Nice flower. Although I need to tell you that is not how you do a single crochet. Single crochet is; insert hook, yarn over, pull through, yarn over and pull through both loops on hook. I don’t mean to be picky but it coud be confusing to beginner crocheters.
This seems really easy bc of your explanation. I’ve been wanting to make a flower but other videos seem daunting. thanks! Might attach it to my headband from your other tutorial
Thank you so much for this… I saw a similar flower on another site and could not figure it out from only her written instructions. Having the video helped me do it on the first try! I have to agree that the SC you are showing is not how I learned how to do a SC, but I like it!
I hate to burst your bubble, but that is not how you do a single crochet. Put your hook into the chain, yarn over and then pull through BOTH loops, not one loop at a time. I even looked at some other videos to make sure.
wow how easy thank you so much for the video, i have a baby girl she is 1 my first and i wanted to learn how to crochet and i loved the head band video and this one big help thanks.
Thank you thank you thank you …I was a little leary when I first started mine wasnt looking exactly like yours but by the time I was done,,it was perfect and now I am going to put it on a hat I made, and I am going to make lots more…thank you so much
I soooo appreciate your videos! I learn by watching and you have unlocked a talent I didn’t know I have!!! Thank you and I look forward to more (i hope)!!
alright ive tried this a couple times, and the stitch you do to make the spokes is confusing mine do not look the way yours do. is there any way for me to look at that stitch in slow motion or something? bc its going a little too fast for me to see exactly what your doing.
I’m still trying… for some reason I can knit but not crochet. I have a 3 year old daughter who keeps yelling PRETTY every time I watch the video. So now I feel like I need to learn how to make them for her. Oh ya- your ticker will probably go up a thousand more times before I give up. (just letting you know)

Thanks for the lesson! . I’ve made one in every color for crochet headbands and baby hats to attach with buttons. It’s also very versatile! I’ve made several that are only 2 layers for smaller flowers and once on mistake, I had 9 petals on the second row but it actually turned out cool(tighter and more defined) so I’ve made some with 9 petals on purpose since then!
What is often made with this type of crochet?
I’m trying to get this down …to learn the triple so I can make a scarf!
so you only skip two chain stitches for the first stitch of each row??
@wwaileng196 You are welcome.
This channel has a lot of slow motion tutorials.
Thank you very much!
I’m looking for these kind of tutorials to learn crotchet. up close and in slow motion. makes understanding easier.
Thank you very much!

wait do you insert the hook in the next chain or the second next chain (if that made sense…)

@cazcats05 Thank you very much!
@doglover0120 yes, the third chain.

May I ask what camera you use? It has very clear quality, as clear as ur directions. It helps to have a good camera!

Tnx very helpful!! I have a question: What kind of yarn are you using, and what size
Thanks so much! Very easy to learn, my first flower turned out great!
That is a great flower, but I think you are doing extended single crochets.

Great tutorial. Thank a lot!!!
@SuperSongfan That is awesome! I’m so glad it turned out. They are a lot of fun to make, don’t you think?
Fantastic video, I made a beautiful flower on the first try and I am an absolute beginner at crocheting.
