I have been trying to learn to knit sice x-mas 05 and have been pretty unsucessful. Does anyone know any books, websites or anything that would help me? I would love anything you can bring up to me.

Then, I’ve been crocheting since maybe 3rd-4th grade, but i haven’t gone more advance then a scarf. I don’t know any other stitch other then the casting on stitch and that’s it. I would love to get a lottle more creative, and go more advance but I haven’t found anything. Any books, websites, your own story anything? Thank so much for any answers!

If I make a scarf with only hdc placed in the back loops of the previous row, will it always curl or will it finally stop curling up on itself as it gets wider? Will I need to put a border around it and if so what would you suggest for a man’s scarf?
I’m crochet by length? I chained 201 to start with.

I have medium weight ( recommended 5.0 mm hook) wool yarn. I’m looking to make a scarf around 15 stitches wide. I’d also like it to be fairly easy, as I am a beginner. Can anyone help?

I am trying to learn how to crochet and I am not following any pattern… i just want to make a scarf or a blanket. How many chains would I have to start with and what is the purpose of the starting chains?

I just made a cool scarf for my boyfriend and he loves it. I want to make him another one, but I haven’t found any good patterns. It has to be kind of manly, but not boring.

Any ideas?

(PS – I’m a pretty good crocheter, so I can even make do with knit patterns.)

I am currently in the hobby/business of crocheting scarves. I don’t have a problem when I am working on the length by width-ways stitches (basically just working rows of 3 to 5 inches at a time and continuing until the scarf is at the desired length). However, certain patterns, like the 79 inch skinny scarf I’m currently attempting, require to crochet it the opposite way. When I do a 270 chain then get into the first row, I notice that the edge of the chain is not perfectly straight, but waves.

I do my best to keep my stitches consistent, and this seems to happen regardless of the yarn type I use. They are not too tight or too loose of a stitch, but somewhere in between. Is there anybody who has a suggestion on how I can keep the length edges straight and not wavy?
